Hello and good Monday morning to everyone! I hope everyone highly enjoyed the holiday (if you are the holiday sort) and any extra days off of work that you may have received (if you are the receiving sort.) Since today is the first day of #Elf4Health (read about it here or here), I thought I should do a bit of a touch on what my blog is about and how it works for any new readers that have found their way here through the challenge! On this blog, there really isn’t what someone might call a theme. I tend to be a bit all over the place, talking about anything that pops into my mind. One day, I may be reflecting on my troubles with sticking to a healthy living lifestyle, or something I find amusing regarding my husband/dog/family. On another day, I may be 100% focused on why I have a love/hate relationship with sports bras. On yet another day, who really knows what I may be focusing on. Really, all it takes is something shiny to get my attention and I follow it around. I would say this blog sticks with a pretty PG-13 rating, though it will occasionally slip into R due to language. I try to keep my sailor-like language skills to a minimal, but I will get worked up from time to time and let the words fly. I think I’m funny, but I also think my dog wearing a hat is funny, so you’ve been warned.
Since I last wrote, things have been very busy. I’m going to give a very fast rundown up until yesterday!
- Thanksgiving was great.
- Black Friday was silly but I had a nice day with my mom.
- Saturday, I woke up feeling like I’d been tossed in front of a truck, hit by it, then drug a good 100 yards. I did, however, manage to make it to HealthSmart, a health foods store that opened in the area I honestly don’t know when but they just moved to a location WAY more convenient for me. While there, I picked up some snacks, coconut oil and some heavenly lotion that I am putting on at an alarming rate.
Yesterday, I woke up at ten am. Yes, TEN. It was like heaven. I haven’t slept that long or deep for I have no idea how long. When I woke up, I felt like a brand new woman! As of yesterday, I guessed I was just exhausted from the Black Friday shenanigans. Since I didn’t do anything on Saturday that I needed to, I had an extremely busy day lined up. I started it off with a run at the gym. It was day 2 of week 4 of couch 2 5K. I would like to say that it was super easy and I was like “running, I got this!” but that’d be a lie. It was difficult and I was tired when I got done. I got it done, though, and felt good because I didn’t stop just because my brain said to quit!
After working out, I tried a new snack. I was extremely torn over if I really, really liked these things or didn’t care for them at all. I’m pretty sure that’s not a normal reaction, but I ended up on the “like them” side of the equation and finished off the bag. As a note, one bag, which contains a ton of fruit, is only 100 calories. It was a good post-run snack. After the run, I went to my parents’ house and cleaned since I didn’t feel up to it on Saturday. Next, I went home and cleaned my house like a mad woman since my parents were coming up for dinner. Speaking of dinner, I had to make that as well so, needless to say, I was a bit tired at the end of the day. It was all worth it, though, because it was a great evening with my parents and husband. Also, it gave me an excuse to come up with a pretty table setting!
This morning, my alarm went off at an alarmingly early time since I haven’t had to set it since last Wednesday. I ended up laying in bed longer than I should have and running late. Running late is basically becoming a tendency for me, so I kept calm and just went with it. I ended up doing an elliptical + weights + stretching routine today. I’m incredibly bad about not doing strength training so I’ve been trying really hard to work it in on the between run days. It ended up making my arms trembly, so I guess that’s a win?
This morning at work started off a bit tough. It’s going to be a trying day, a day that I definitely need to get back to now. I hope you all have a great Monday and, if you’re having to fight the negative like I am, remember this:
